Texting, IM & SMS Abbreviations, Acronyms

& Slang - A Family Friendly Glossary

In their effort to be all-inclusive, most glossaries of Texting, IM & SMS Abbreviations contain words and phrases that are anything but family-friendly. They also contain many words and phrases that are inappropriate in most business settings. As we have learned from the news accounts of embarrassing e-mail messages … nothing goes away!

For families who want there children to have a glossary of acceptable abbreviations, (or want to know what all these strange character strings mean) and businesses who want to keep their employees from embarrassing their companies, we offer this condensed version. In the weeks ahead we expect to add substantially to this section, and would welcome family friendly suggestions from our readers.

All of the following abbreviations are shown as All Caps for clarity. All Caps generally denote shouting and would be considered impolite except with close friends or family.
